I have pointed out many of the devil’s strategies, so how do we fight them? First off, be aware of them! Not everything that goes wrong in your life is an attack of the enemy, but if it is something contrary to God’s Word or that makes you think or act contrary to God’s Word, it probably is. Since the devil’s wiles are contrary to God’s Word, use God’s Word to counteract it. That means you have to know the Word first. Read your Bible! Then apply it!
Of course, it is better to be on the offensive rather than the defensive in a battle, so be prepared before the enemy strikes. Memorize Scriptures that cover situations you are most susceptible to. Is it anger? Speaking before you think? Memorize James 1:19-20. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.
Actually, the whole book of James is good to be thoroughly familiar with. James is telling the Christians who were scattered from Jerusalem how to deal with persecution. First of all, be joyful! If you are joyful because of your position in Christ, you can handle anything.
You want to walk in the armor of God. Don’t take it off.
Ephesians 6:10-18 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…
